Work Day @ Hus Encampment

May 5, 2018

The Hus Encampment needs your help to get the facility ready for the upcoming camping season.  As you probably know, we have been undergoing two construction projects there which are nearing completion.  The sewer system upgrade has been installed and should be fully operational later this week.  We don't have electrical power to it yet, but will have it soon so the pumps can be tested and placed in service.  The kitchen remodel is also being finished this week and should be ready for occupying/restocking by Friday.
The most pressing need is for volunteers to clean and move equipment back into the kitchen from the main dining hall.  There is a lot of equipment to be moved and it is all covered in a layer of dust.  It is a big job and help is needed to get it ready for use.  A secondary, but also critical need is for clean-up around the campus.  The work on the campus involved installation of underground sewer, water and electrical lines which impacted the appearance of the grounds.  We need volunteers to help with general clean-up involving brush removal, leveling around trees and buildings, construction of a storage building, and overall preparation of the campus for campers.
While this is late notice, the Hus School Board of Trustees is asking for anyone who is available to come to the camp on May 5 and May 12 to help with this work.  We hesitated to schedule this work day until we knew the construction projects would be finished, but that time has come and we are asking for your assistance.  Camps start on June 10, so we have about a month to get everything finished.  The current weather forecast for Saturday May 5 is rainy so we may be limited on what can be done outside, but we can at least get the work finished inside.  If you have some time on either of these weekends, please consider coming out, looking over the improvements that have been made, and help us get ready for the 2018 camping season.  Contact me with any questions at the number below.  Thank you.
